First Generation members Gabb Skribikin and Brei Binuya will be leaving MNL48, the idol group's agency HalloHallo Entertainment (HHE) disclosed earlier today.
No specific reasons were mentioned for the member’s decision to graduate, yet HHE stressed through an online statement that these decisions are "respected and understood".
In the said statement, Skribikin said that she is overflowing with gratitude coming from her co-members and fans, something that she received since beginning her stint with MNL48 back in 2018. She also said that the said departure will not be an end to her career but a beginning of another both as a performer and an artist. “You are a truly amazing group of people and my heart is happy because of the friendship we have made and the work we have done together,” she said.
She also wished for the success of the group and wants them to continue experiencing the success they have earned while being optimistic despite the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Skribikin has been currently seen lately alongside Team NIV’s Coleen Trinidad as both of them are currently part of CANS TV, a popular local gaming channel which is active on social networking site Facebook.
Meanwhile, Binuya said in her part that her stay within MNL48 is a great experience and she will treasure the memories of her stay within the group. “I promise to always be your Bullylit and I hope to see you all on my next journey,” she said.
Binuya was recently embroiled in an issue regarding her alleged violation of the group’s "love ban" rule. In response, she had recently published an apology video regarding the said issue, stating that despite "disappointing" some fans, she wants to strive as an idol and is asking for a "second chance" from the community.
The said slew of graduations comes after MNL48's recent participation in the AKB48 Group Asia Online Festival last Sunday, June 27.
