“River” music video in the works, Abby & Jan wins oshi cam campaign

Excitement is heating up as the shoot for the music video of MNL48’s sixth single “River” has already commenced last Friday, October 6.


The music video shoot follows a long preparation by the single’s senbatsu members, led by its center girls Gabb Skribikin and Abby Trinidad, consisting of numerous recording sessions and dance rehearsals that were well-documented through their social media posts and updates.


Live behind-the-scenes sessions for the shoot was hosted by the ABS-CBN TV Digital Group (TVDG) where some lucky fans who availed got a peek on the preparations and the members itself on the shoot's set.



Fans made their happiness and anticipation for the upcoming single as the hashtag “#MNL48RiverMVShoot” made its way to the trending topics on Twitter on the same day.



Moreover, the “River” senbatsu members also participated in an “Oshi Cam” campaign which ran from November 2 to 5 with the top two members having an exclusive music video oshi cam. Fans cast their votes through KTX (Kapamilya Tickets) and sending virtual gifts on the members’ Kumu live streams. After the short campaign, Abby Trinidad (Team NIV) and Jan Elaurza (Team MII) got the top two slots.



MNL48 remains in contention for RAWR Awards’ Favorite Group honor


MNL48 is very much in the running for the “Favorite Group” in the upcoming 2020 RAWR Awards after a week of spirited campaign.


Conducted by popular entertainment blog LionHearTV aiming to recognize the best acts in the local entertainment industry, this year’s RAWR Awards will be on December 5 through an online platform due to the COVID pandemic.


As of 6:00 PM today, MNL48 has garnered 45.29% of the website votes to firmly remain in second and cutting the gap between them and frontrunners SB19 who has 51.36%.

Several fan clubs and prominent accounts on the MNL48 online community joined forces this week to promote and encourage MNLoves to vote for the group.



Fans can vote for MNL48 through the RAWR Awards’ official website every 6 hours. Furthermore, votes can also come in the form of reading articles related to the group on the LionHearTV website. The voting period will end on November 30.



“Pranks Not Dead” makes long-awaited premiere

The latest offering of the MNL48 Presents series was finally unveiled as the short film “Pranks Not Dead” finally made its premiere on the group’s official YouTube channel last Tuesday, November 3.



Produced by the ABS-CBN TVDG (TV Digital Group), “Pranks Not Dead” revolves around the story of Pam (Sandee Garcia) who is the target of a popular yet notorious group of girls known as the Campus Cuties composed of Rachel (Coleen Trinidad), Cassie (Jan Elaurza) and Becky (Dian Mercado). Glen (Alice de Leon), a campus reporter, follows how a series of pranks will change everything between Pam and the Campus Cuties.


Prior to the premiere, an exclusive screening party has been hosted by TVDG last October 27 where lucky fans had the privilege to see the short film for the first time along with the cast members. “Pranks Not Dead” currently has more than 14,000 views now on YouTube after just five days.



Baby Blue launches own YouTube account

MNL48’s first unit group Baby Blue has launched its own Twitter account last Thursday, November 5.


With tweets mostly in Japanese, the unit’s Twitter account (@BabyBlue_HHE) has actively shared news articles and clippings from different websites and media outlets in Japan about the group and its debut single “Sweet Talking Sugar” and its music video which was launched last September.



The account has quickly gained followers, with its count already exceeding 1,200 as of press time.
