Team MII starts “Regroup” online reunion series
After months of inactivity due to the ongoing COVID pandemic and quarantine period, Team MII came together on the virtual spotlight as MNL48 kicks off their "Regroup" online show series last Friday, September 11.
Created in partnership with ABS-CBN’s Content Development Group, “Regroup” aims to reunite aims to reunite the idol group's teams in front of the fans via YouTube Live.
During the reunion, Team MII members took time to ask each other about the new activities they’re trying out during the quarantine period, recounted their bonding moments before the pandemic struck and played "Guess The Disney Movie". Moreover, Andi Garcia, Erica Macabutas and Sheki Arzaga showed their singing prowess by performing short versions of “Ikaw ang Melody”, “First Rabbit” and “Pag-ibig Fortune Cookie” respectively.
Fans also had the opportunity to interact and ask questions to the members by sending Super Chats and Super Stickers which are paid features of YouTube.
“Regroup” will resume this Friday, September 18, with Team NIV next in line to do their respective catch-up.
“Sweet Talking Sugar” fever continues its rage
Ever since its release last September 1, the hype has never stopped towards MNL48’s first sub-unit Baby Blue and their single “Sweet Talking Sugar”.
The sub-unit composed of Jan Elaurza, Coleen Trinidad, and Amy Isidto displayed a different side of their singing talents in “Sweet Talking Sugar” which is influenced by modern pop and RnB.
Streams for the song racked up by the thousands in the EGGS music streaming platform, as it surpassed the 100,000-stream count last September 6. In addition, Baby Blue and “Sweet Talking Sugar” are also currently first in the weekly artist and song ranking for the second week in the row. The song was also released on streaming platforms Spotify and Apple Music last September 4.
Baby Blue went on to perform an acapella version of “Sweet Talking Sugar” for the first time on the online variety show “iWant ASAP” last Sunday, September 13. Intensifying rumors about the song’s music video has also surfaced with the ICYMI crew unveiling some details about the music video on their Instagram stories.
MNL48 Presents comes alive with “Pranks Not Dead”
Following the success of its GL series, "Bye, Us," MNL48 and the ABS-CBN TV Digital Group (TVDG) proceeds with its new "MNL48 Presents" series entitled "Pranks not Dead" which focuses on the life of a high school outcast named Liz taking revenge at her popular yet mean bullies nicknamed the “Campus Cuties”.
Five characters will be involved in the upcoming series and will be determined from a two-week campaign from September 6 to 19, involving nine members: Alice de Leon, Amy Isidto, Andi Garcia, Coleen Trinidad, Dian Mercado, Gabb Skribikin, Jan Elaurza, Mari Iyog and Yzabel Divinagracia.
Aside from the diamonds attained through Kumu live streams, a new method of voting has been introduced in this cycle as fans can vote for their favorite members through ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Tickets (KTX) e-tickets. Fans can purchase KTX e-tickets with equivalent votes, starting from Php50 to Php5,000.
Preliminary results released last September 12 shows de Leon leading the KTX vote count while Trinidad holds the first place in the Kumu diamonds count after a week of intensive campaign. It will still be determined who will eventually make the cast as the final week of campaign comes into play.
Francheese rules inaugural MNLoves Community League season
After fending all of its opposition in the Mobile Legends stage, Francheese nabbed the gold in the inaugural season of the MNLoves Community League (MCL) last Sunday, September 6.
The fans-slash-gamers representing Frances Pinlac’s official fan club went full throttle in their campaign towards the championship, winning all of their five matches in the including a 3-0 sweep in their grand finals match against Dana Believers with Piggy winning accolades as the Finals MVP.
Dana Believers finished second while Coleenfinity and Beasts shared the third-place honors for the first season of the said e-sports league. MCL is organized by the fan group Precious48 and the online game streaming page ZeroRyuu Gaming.
