Fresh from the recently-concluded Third General Election, a mixture of familiar and new members took the spotlight as MNL48 conducted its Third Generation Virtual Media Conference in partnership with ABS-CBN Entertainment earlier today, February 22.

Hosted by entertainment reporter MJ Felipe, the media conference was bannered by the presence of the Third Generation Kami-7, headed by Center Abby Trinidad and joined by Sheki Arzaga, Jamie Alberto, Ruth Lingat, Ella Amat, Jan Elaurza, and Andi Garcia. Also taking the virtual press stage beside them are new members Rianna Chua, Lyza Roxas, Kath Apduhan, Klaryle Mercado and Jana Angeles.

Facing members of the entertainment press, the idols were game to answer various questions asked to them about their MNL48 journey and reactions about the past General Election. The new girls on the block came in first and introduced themselves to the scribes and the fans, then proceeded to share the sacrifices they made to be a part of the idol group and what they look forward to as an official member.

The excitement heated up as the Third Generation Kami-7 went on to face the press and their questions about being voted into the idol group’s cream of the crop. Trinidad went on to thank the fans in buoying her to victory, while Arzaga is grateful to be a part of the Kami-7 ever since the idol group’s First General Election.

Alberto looks forward to the opportunity to be an ambassador for MNL48 through being part of the Kami-7, while Amat looks forward to show her improvement to the fans in her soaring reentry. Furthermore, Lingat, Elaurza and Garcia shared their experiences and hardships being a idol group member while expressing their gratitude to their fans who voted them.

More than sharing their own sentiments, the Third Generation Kami-7 also looks forward for the 7th single which Trinidad prefers to be a “dance-heavy” song. They also expressed interests in collaborating with fellow local artists, especially P-Pop groups, and do events like theater shows and handshake events where they can perform and meet their fans again once the pandemic is over.

HalloHallo Entertainment Inc. (HHE) president Paulo Kurosawa also graced the occasion to congratulate the Kami-7, adding that he counts on the current senbatsu to do well. He also announced future projects for the idol group that will be pursued after the pandemic, which includes international events with other 48G sister groups and sub-unit Baby Blue releasing a CD in Japan.

Before the Virtual Media Conference ended, Felipe went on to announce a “big surprise”, which turned out to be an upcoming MNL48 Third Generation Concert which will be streamed through the online platform KTX. This concert will happen “very soon”, despite complete details not being available yet to the public.

The Virtual Media Conference proved to be a success as the event that lasted for almost two hours was watched by more than 1,500 viewers, while the tag “MNL48 MEDIA CONFERENCE” made its way to the top trending topics on Twitter Philippines today.
