After weeks of inactivity online, MNL48 launched a new Kumu segment and mini-series the past week to the delight of the fan community. To sum off the weekend, three MNL48 members showed their acting abilities
"Doll Me Up" launched on Kumu
Inspired by the old-school "dress up" doll game, the group started the "Doll Me Up" streaming segment on the online streaming app Kumu last June 8 in collaboration with the ABS-CBN TV Digital Group (TVDG).
One member will feature in the Doll Me Up stream everyday and have a theme about what style she wants to dress up, from market get up, cosplay and office looks. Stream watchers have the power to help the member choose their makeup, clothes, accessories and shoes by sending virtual stickers. Members will also give tips on how to dress up.
Jem Caldejon, Miho Hoshino, Alice De Leon, Jan Elaurza and Coleen Trinidad featured in the first week. Trinidad became the week's top earner for the streaming series as she got 1.017 million diamonds last Friday, June 12.
Kay Ishiyama, Jamie Alberto, Jaydee Villaruel, Daryll Matalino and Grace Buenaventura are the next idols to be featured in the segment from June 15 to 19.
MNL48 Presents is back with "Chain"
The second offering of the MNL48 Presents series suddenly shifts to horror as the trailer for "Chain" was unveiled last Friday, June 12.
HalloHallo Entertainment Inc. (HHE) decided to scrap the concept of "i-DOL" which was supposed to be the second MNL48 Presents short film. In a statement released by HHE shortly before the trailer launch, the concept change was implemented due to stricter production guidelines and social distancing measures for entertainment shows.
Jaydee Villaruel, Daryll Matalino and Jamie Alberto who were the top three placers in the i-DOL campaign will feature in "Chain", which will be presented as a mini-series and not as a short film unlike the first project "20/20 Vision" last February.
Furthermore, an exclusive digital premiere is also in the works. Fans who will give a Malacanang virtual sticker in the "Doll Me Up" Kumu campaign this week gets first access to the "Chain" mini-series.
Sela, Sheki and Gabb appears in "Ipaglaban Mo" comeback episode
Prominent MNL48 members Sela Guia, Sheki Arzaga and Gabb Skribikin graced the TV screen as individual actresses as popular crime drama series "Ipaglaban Mo" airs their comeback episode on the Kapamilya Channel earlier today, June 14.
The trio is featured as supporting characters in the episode "Yes Sir" starring Alexa Ilacad and Ella Cruz that revolves around the story of a group of female students and Youth Army trainees which were victims of sexual abuse from their commander portrayed by Joem Bascon.
Despite the show's unavailability on free TV, it didn't stop MNLoves from watching the episode. #IMYesSir climbed up to 10th the Twitter Philippines trending topics list by the time of airing. Fans also praised the members' acting abilities and composure in the heavy scenes.
